Ohhhhh, Woodlakes. Where do I start?! Our visit there a couple of weeks ago was just what I needed and I haven’t stopped going on about it since.
Nestled in the Norfolk countryside, Woodlakes Park offers the perfect balance of comfort and seclusion. The traditionally built timber cabins are set across 66 acres of land, overlooking both fishing lakes and natural woodland. From the moment we arrived on Friday evening, I knew we were in for a treat.
Woodlakes Park Cabin Review
We arrived at about 6pm, unfortunately as it was already dark we couldn’t see much of the park, but after a warm welcome we were shown to our lakeside cabin. Upon entering I was instantly smitten by the exposed timber. I’ve always had a thing for wood! It’s probably down to the fact I’m a Carpenter’s daughter, but I just don’t think you can beat it.
The large open-plan living space had plenty of comfy seating, a fully fitted kitchen, TV, and an electric fire for extra cosiness. Our cabin had one large double room and one twin room, but the park can facilitate anything from two to six berth.
We’d invited two of our closest friends along for the weekend and in anticipation of their late arrival (sorry guys!), had stocked the fridge with a dine in for two from Tesco and a few bottles of vino. After a lovely catch up over dinner we had a much needed early night.
I can’t tell you how perfect it was to wake up, open the French doors of our lakeside cabin and enjoy my morning coffee on the peaceful veranda. It honestly doesn’t get any better.
What Do You Mean There’s No Wifi?
Let’s be honest, it’s unusual to holiday anywhere these days without having access to Wifi. I’ll admit I was initially worried at the prospect of spending a weekend without it. I know, how sad am I? But like many of us, I’m guilty of posting to Instagram and even checking my emails at the weekend.
Since our visit to Woodlakes, I am so much more aware of how much time I waste on my phone. I love social media but switching off now and again is so important.
Banham Zoo, Norfolk
When planning what we were going to do with our weekend in Norfolk, I knew that Banham Zoo had to feature. I’ve visited a few times in the past but I’ve pretty sure I could go every week and not get bored of the place. What better way to relax yourself than looking at cute animals all day right? The sun even made an appearance, which for the end of February was a bloomin’ miracle!
The Hare Arms, Stow Bardolph
On Saturday evening we had planned to go for a meal and after researching local pubs, all decided on The Hare Arms in nearby Stow Bardolph. While the pub was only a 5 minute drive away, we called for a taxi so that everyone could have a drink. Plus, the busy road wasn’t safe to walk at night and at £7 each way it was a no brainer! If you’re looking for locally sourced food, in a cosy village pub environment then I would 100% recommend paying The Hare Arms a visit. I had the 8oz Rib Eye Steak with Stilton Sauce and honestly it’s making my mouth water thinking back to it.
On Sunday morning we headed home feeling completely refreshed, with a new admiration for the Norfolk countryside. With a focus on switching off and immersing yourself in nature, a stay at Woodlakes Park was just what I needed. I would recommend a visit for anyone looking to escape daily life for a few days.
To book your log cabin or find out more information click here. I enjoyed a complimentary stay at Woodlakes Park but as always all opinions are my own.

What a cute getaway! A weekend without wi-fi would worry me, but I guess it just shows how dependable I am on my gadgets. Your photos are absolutely gorgeous!

What a cosy little getaway!! My family and I head up to the Santa Cruz mountains here in California every November; we rent a cabin and soak up the trees, the fresh air, and the seclusion and calm. It’s so refreshing xx
